Brynafon

Brynafon is a two-storey building with a cellar, featuring a double depth plan and an additional rear wing. It has a four-window front elevation, constructed of brick with a rubble left-hand bay and slate roofs. There are two red brick ridge stacks and one end stack on the rear range. Both the house and shop have a two-unit plan with a central chimney and front door.

The upper storey windows on the front are 12-pane cast iron casements that rise to the eaves, complete with stone sills and cast iron quadrant stays. The ground floor windows are similar 16-pane casements set under stone wedge lintels. To the south of the shop front, there is a tripartite window beneath a round-headed arch. The house features a four-panelled front door within a doorcase that has a flat cornice, consoles, and moulded pilasters, approached by stone steps.

The shop front is slightly projecting and includes a door that appears to have been moved outwards, similar to the house door but with wider pilasters. The shop front consists of plain wooden frames on red-brown brick bases, although the windows have been boarded over. The southern half of the shop front is a later addition compared to the northern half. The rear range, like the left bay of the front, is made of random rubble masonry but includes modern doors and windows. The short rear wing has a light timber-framed gable end, and there is an outshut section between the two rear ranges. A dog kennel is attached to the northern end of the building, with a cast iron casement window above it.

Access to the interior was not available during the inspection in January 1996.
