Description
The Meadows is a symmetrical house built with a double depth plan, featuring three bays and three storeys, along with a raised cellar. It has a hipped roof with a valley and wide brick end stacks. The exterior is primarily red brick in Flemish bond, while the cellars are made of masonry. The eaves are adorned with yellow brick modillions, and the roof is covered with slate.
The front door, which is modern, is partially glazed and set within a timber porch that is approached by stone steps. This gabled porch has panelled pilasters and reveals. At the rear, there is another modern porch with a tall stair light above, featuring red and blue coloured panes.
The front elevation showcases sash windows beneath flat-arched lintels with finely gauged brick heads. Most windows have 12 panes, except for those on the second storey, which contain 9 panes. On the west side, some windows are blocked with recessed brickwork, which may be an original or early feature of the house. The rear also has sash windows similar to the front, with some under segmental-headed arches. One window above the stair light has been blocked with flush brickwork, and the north side features similar blockings. The cellar openings are highlighted by flat-arched stone lintels with voussoirs.
There was no access to the interior at the time of inspection in January 1996.
