Description
The detached outbuildings range at Rhiwlas, formerly a rectory, is an L-shaped structure dating from the 19th century. It consists of a small three-bay barn at the rear, to the north-west, and a three-bay lofted stable wing extending towards the house. The buildings are constructed of quasi-rubble local gritstone in an uncoursed style, topped with a slate roof. They feature boarded doors and hatch covers.
The barn has a symmetrical north-west elevation with a door located in the center bay and hatches at a high level in each end bay, although the hatch on the left has been walled up. There are slit ventilators on either side of the barn. On the front side facing the house, there is a door in the center bay and slit ventilators in the left end bay, along with a hatch above the slit ventilator in the north-east gable end.
The lofted stable wing has three doors and slit ventilators on its south-west side, as well as a loft hatch and slit ventilators on its north-east side. At the end of the wing, there is a stone staircase above a lean-to dog kennel and a loft door. The interior has not been seen.
