Description
Cefn Maenllwyd is a 17th-century farmhouse that features a timber frame, which is now covered with sheet boarding and topped with a corrugated asbestos cement roof. The building consists of two bays and stands two storeys high with attics, including a large external stone stack that serves both bays. At the rear, there is a brick outshut. The gable end of the house is notably jettied twice on cut brackets, and it has small paned timber windows. The roof is constructed with two tiers of purlins, and the stack includes stepped offsets along with an added brick flue.
The interior has a two-unit plan, featuring a large kitchen with a side stack and deeply chamfered ceiling beams that create six bays. There is also an inner parlour that shares an extension of the stack and has two parallel ceiling beams.
