Description
Redgate Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It features timber framing that is rendered, with later brick additions and a renewed brick stack. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a frame that consists of four and a half bays. There is an outshut on the north-west gable end and two parallel single-storey additions on the south side, which have their own entrances.
On the north side, there are two casement windows on each floor to the right, and a concealed mullion window is reputed to exist on the left. The front gable end has a casement window on each floor and in the attic, along with a bargeboard on the gable and a central ridge stack.
Inside, the farmhouse features ovolo-moulded beams, chamfered jowled parts, and a chamfered wall plate. There is a cupboard on the first floor front with dragon head H-hinges, and some wide floorboards. The roof structure includes clasped purlins with wind braces.
