Description
The Boot Inn is a public house that likely has a core dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th and 19th centuries, and a 20th-century extension on the right. The building features a timber-framed core that is cased in Flemish bond brick, with additional brick extensions that are whitewashed. The original part of the building has a roof covered with glazed pantiles, while the extension has plain tiles.
It is a single-storey structure with an attic. The original range has a slight central projection that includes a 20th-century door and a 16-pane sash window set under segmental arches. To the left, there is another 16-pane sash window under a cambered arch, and to the right, there is a blocked entrance and another 16-pane sash window under segmental arches. The 19th-century extension features a door and a 4-pane sash window. The building has dentilled eaves throughout and three flat dormer windows with casements in the original range, along with a single flat dormer with a 4-pane sash in the extension. The early part of the building has a swept roof, an external stack on the right, and an additional stack rising through the roof at the rear, with an end stack on the extension.
The interior has been extensively altered, but the early part retains one wall post, a studded partition with down braces, and a chamfered spine beam with tenoned-in joists.
