Description
Broadway House is a two-storey building designed as a group of linked pavilions under hipped roofs. It features slate roofs with projecting boarded eaves, red brick stacks, and Flemish bond brickwork, with a stone sill band on some bays. The garden front has four windows and is broadly symmetrical, with a higher two-window central block that has clasping chimneys, flanked by low single-window blocks. The sash windows have 9, 12, or 15 panes, projecting stone sills, and stone wedge lintels. There is a canted bay window with a hipped roof on the left and French doors in the right-hand block. The entrance front faces west, featuring a doorway with a sandstone architrave, plain pilasters, and fluted consoles that support a flat cornice. The panelled double doors are two-thirds lit with margin glazing, and there is a sash window above, beneath a gablet that suggests a pediment. An advanced bay to the right has sash windows. Access to the rear or east end was not available at the time of inspection in February 1996.
