Description

Lower Hurdley Farmhouse is an asymmetrical, 18th-century farmhouse of two storeys, with a single-storey lean-to at the rear. It is constructed of random rubble with a slate roof and has gable stacks built from stone. The south-facing front has two-by-two-light casement windows to the wall plate, and further two-by-two-light casements with small panes in the lower storey. A ledged and battened door is located to the right of centre. The west wall is built against an earthen bank and incorporates a former pantry vent, now glazed but retaining iron bars. A lean-to has been added to the rear.

The interior follows a two-unit plan, with a parlour to the right and a kitchen to the left. The kitchen features a fireplace enclosed within random rubble jambs, a former pantry to the left, and a quarter-turn timber staircase with a handrail at the top.
