Description
The Ivy House is a two-storey house with an attic, facing west. It has an extension and a conservatory to the south, and a canted bay at the southwest angle. The building features random rubble with stucco on the front and roughcast on the remaining sides. It has a hipped slate roof with two red brick stacks located at the back, projecting eaves, and a lath and plaster soffit. The front is symmetrical with three bays. On the upper storey, there are three 12-pane sash windows with hood moulds and projecting stone sills. The porch is supported by two Tuscan columns and has a moulded entablature. The door is glazed with nine panes and has two panels below. Flanking the doorway are canted bays with small-paned, full-height windows. A verandah made of a latticed iron frame features a swept leaded roof. Half dormers with iron-framed casements were added to the end walls, likely in the early 20th century.
Inside, there is a stair hall with a drawing room and dining room on either side. The straight stair has scrolled tread ends, and the ground floor doorways are adorned with fluted architraves.
