Description

This is a lofted shippon, a traditional farm building, likely dating to the 18th century. The building is timber-framed with diagonal tension braces and originally had brick nogging, though some has been replaced. The roof is corrugated iron. The front facade, facing the farmyard, originally featured eight doorways, two of which have been blocked, two have replacement doors, and four have been converted into windows. Inside the loft, three windows and two loading doors have been inserted on the left side. The right gable end has an inserted door and four diamond-pattern ventilators arranged around a loft opening that has been glazed. The left gable end has diamond-pattern breathers and a loft opening. The rear of the building has had some timber framing replaced with brick and now contains five inserted doorways and two small inserted windows.
