Description

Gelli Farmhouse is an L-plan timber-framed house dating from the 18th century, featuring a white-painted brick front and a slate roof that is hipped to the right. There is a T-shaped brick stack to the right of the center. The front has three windows, with the entrance located at the right end, accessed through an added gabled porch that has a boarded door. To the left of center, there is another doorway that has been blocked. These entrances likely date from when the front was rebuilt in brick and divided into two dwellings. The windows are a mix of 2-light and 3-light casements.

The left gable end is rendered and includes a 20th-century bay window. The right side wall and rear of the house are box-framed with white-painted brick nogging. The framing in the main range shows evidence of heightening that coincided with the raising of the rear wing. On the right side, there is a 2-light casement window to the right of a low gabled brick projection.

At the rear gable end of the wing, some of the framing has been replaced with brick, but it still reveals the original roof line, indicating that the eaves were raised to create a full upper storey, along with a subsequent raising of the ridge. This end features a 2-light window on the lower right and a similar window in the upper storey, the latter being a replacement in an earlier opening. Additionally, there is an added white-painted brick lean-to at the rear of the main range, which is a single storey and has a half-glazed door.
