Description

Central Arcade is a 19th-century building made of brick with terracotta details and a slate roof over the frontage. The frontage building has three storeys with attics and features a three-window range. The central entrance leads to the arcade, flanked by shops on either side. The original shop fronts are intact, with outer pilasters supporting brackets for a continuous fascia. The shop windows, which have slender iron glazing bars, are preserved in the right-hand unit. The upper storeys are divided by full-height pilasters that support a cornice over the upper storey. There are outer canted oriel windows above and central paired sash windows, with a pediment on brackets that is decorated with terracotta relief. All windows are two-pane sashes.

The attic features pedimented windows on either side of the central pediment, which displays the name "Wrexham Arcade" and the date in relief. Dutch gables are present on either side.

The narrow shops beside the arcade are faced in white brick. The shop fronts have been renewed within the original openings, and the beaded fascias remain. The tripartite windows in the upper rooms are mostly original and are separated by pilasters with heavy reeded console brackets. The glazed clerestory roof is supported by iron trusses.
