Description
36 High Street is a building with an 18th-century front that was originally two storeys high with an attic and features a four-window range. The lower floor has 19th-century shop fronts. The building is constructed of brick and has a slate roof, with moulded stone architraves and entablatures above the upper windows, as well as stone quoins and a cornice. The current front wall replicates the original design, using brick with concrete dressings, and the lower storey has been extended. There are two gabled rear wings that have also been largely rebuilt, but remnants of the original timber-framing can still be seen in the west wing, along with fragments of framing in the front range.
