Description
39 High Street is a building that was originally constructed as a single house but has been subdivided at times. It is currently a single commercial unit on the ground floor, with separate offices located above, which are part of 40-42 High Street. The building was first recorded as a shop in 1757 and is likely from the late 18th century, although it has undergone extensive renewal. It is made of brick with some stone dressings and features a slate roof. The structure has three storeys and a three-window range, with 20th-century shop fronts on the ground floor and 12-pane sash windows above. The windows are adorned with painted stone heads that have stressed voussoirs. There is a modillion cornice located below the parapet, and the building has end wall stacks.
