Description

The National Westminster Bank is a two-storey building designed in the Italianate style, featuring a three-window range. The central entrance is framed by a stressed architrave with coupled Tuscan engaged columns and moulded brackets that support an entablature with a dentilled frieze and blocking course. The windows on either side of the entrance are slightly recessed and have been renewed in their original openings. A cornice runs above the ground floor, while the upper storey is defined by pilasters, with 4-pane sash windows set in moulded architraves that also have entablatures. The building is topped with a heavy modillion cornice and has end wall stacks.

Inside, the banking chamber has been modified with the addition of suspended ceilings and late 20th-century counters.
