Description
Westminster House and Westminster Buildings are a pair of mirrored 2-storey cottages built in the Georgian style. They are made of large blocks of snecked pecked sandstone with quoins and feature slate roofs with brick end stacks. Architectural details include a moulded stone eaves cornice and square hoodmoulds over openings, which have chamfered surrounds. The doorways are centrally located, with each cottage having a flanking window; there are three symmetrically arranged windows on the upper storey. The doorways contain panelled doors with overlights, while the windows have stone sills and hornless sashes, although the glazing bars are missing. The upper storey windows are shorter, likely originally designed as 3-over-6-pane, with the central window being blind. Each gable end has steep lean-tos with no openings facing the front, but the sides of the lean-tos have two small 20th-century windows. The gables above are made of rubble stone. On the rear upper storey, there is a sash window on the outer side of each cottage, similar to the front, along with a single-pane window on the inner side, all featuring stone lintels. The lower storey is not visible. Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
