Description
Westminster House and Westminster Buildings are a pair of mirrored 2-storey cottages built in the Georgian style. They are made from large blocks of snecked pecked sandstone and feature quoins, slate roofs, and brick end stacks. Architectural details include a moulded stone eaves cornice and square hoodmoulds over openings, which have chamfered surrounds. The doorways are positioned towards the centre of each cottage, with each doorway flanked by a window. There are three symmetrically arranged windows on the upper storey. The doorways have panelled doors with overlights, while the windows feature stone sills and hornless sashes, although the glazing bars are missing. The upper storey windows are shorter, likely originally designed as 3-over-6-pane, with the central window being blind. Each gable end has steep lean-tos with no openings on the front, while the sides of the lean-tos have two small 20th-century windows. The gables are made of rubble stone. On the rear upper storey, there is a sash window on the outer side of each cottage, similar to the front, and a single-pane window on the inner side, all with stone lintels. The lower storey is not visible. Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
