Description
The former stable block at Castle Hill Farm is a low, L-shaped, two-storey structure, likely built in the late 18th century, with later additions. It features a shallow-pitched slate roof and is divided into three main sections. The central part is constructed of rubble stone and has two plain entrances with simple wooden lintels. The left entrance has a modern boarded door, while the right entrance is missing its door and has a plain shuttered window above it.
To the left of the central section, there is a two-bay brick addition that is continuously roofed and abuts the western gate pier of the yard. This addition has an entrance on the right with a cambered head and a missing door, along with a plain shuttered window above. On the ground floor to the left, there is a two-light window, also with a cambered head.
To the right of the central section, an advanced gabled wing creates the L-shape with the main block. This wing has external stepped access to the first floor at the gable end. The ground floor was rebuilt in brick during the mid-19th century and features two stable doors with cambered heads, one of which has a replaced boarded door.
Inside, the stable block contains mid-Victorian cast iron stalls and a brick floor.
