Description
The churchyard boundary wall of the Church of St Bartholomew dates from the 18th century and surrounds the triangular churchyard, enclosing the southern, northeastern, and northern halves of the northwestern side. It is a low wall made of snecked rock-faced sandstone, topped with prominent saddleback coping. The wall curves at the acute southeastern angle and is taller at the northwestern end. The main entrance is located to the south, directly opposite the church porch. This entrance features piers that are buttressed at the rear, topped with pyramidal caps that match the coping. There is a single cast iron gate with plain finials, dog rails, a diagonal brace, and scrolls on the end posts. There is an additional entrance on the northeastern side, where the piers continue with the wall and have higher pyramidal caps; however, the gate at this entrance is missing.
