Description
The Former Women's Land Army Hostel is a single-storey building constructed in brick, designed in a cruciform plan oriented on a north-south axis. It features narrow window openings fitted with metal casements, along with concrete lintels and sills; some of these windows have been infilled due to later reuse. The roof is made of corrugated asbestos sheets and includes ventilators.
To the south, there is a long dormitory wing, which has a small toilet outshut to the east, while shorter dormitory blocks are located to the north and west. The eastern wing serves as the service area and includes a tall structure that combines a chimney with a header water tank tower. Additionally, there are south-facing vehicle and implement sheds, accompanied by a concrete turning area in front.
Inside, a central circulation area connects each wing. The dormitory wings have mostly been converted for animal accommodation but still preserve their original roof structure and lights above the inserted ceilings. The service wing maintains its original doors and partitions, which include a boiler room and a workshop/office.
