Description
Ferry Bank Farm is a three-storey farmhouse built of brick and topped with a slate roof. It features brick end stacks, with one external to the northern end and another on the front roof pitch. The eaves at both the front and rear have a saw-tooth dentilled design. There is a butt joint between the central bay and the right-hand bay. The entrance is slightly offset to the left of the center and has a 20th-century wooden door with glazed strips, set beneath a wedge lintel.
The windows are hornless sashes, with 8 panes on the second storey, located just below the eaves. The first and ground floors have flush 16-pane sashes in the right-hand bay, and 12-pane sashes in the center and left-hand bays, all featuring wedge lintels and sills.
On the north gable end, there is a horizontal sliding sash window to the right of the external stack at first floor level, and a blocked doorway beneath it. The rear of the house is rendered and has asymmetrical fenestration, with the right-hand bay slightly advanced. The ground floor includes a large canted bay to the left, a three-light wooden window in the center, and a single light immediately to the right. The first floor has three segmental-headed windows, with two 2-light casements to the left and a top-hung window to the right. The second storey also has three windows, featuring two horizontal sashes toward the right and a blocked window opening to the left, all positioned just under the eaves.
Adjoining the southern gable end are lower farm ranges, partly visible, which include a short block with a slate roof and a truncated brick ridge stack. Beyond this is a stone range with a corrugated asbestos roof, possibly a barn. There are single-storey ranges at right angles to both the front and rear of the house, with the one adjacent to the front possibly being a former bakehouse; it has a brick ridge stack and a round-arched window to the right, which is partly infilled. The interior was not seen during the survey.
