Description

Glan Terrig Farmhouse is a rubble-built structure dating from the 18th century, topped with a shallow-pitched slate roof featuring stone-coped gables and shaped kneelers. It has plain brick chimneys at both ends and a symmetrical three-bay facade. The central entrance is round-arched, with a panelled doorcase and a deeply recessed six-panel door that includes a contemporary door knocker. Above the door is a simple glazed fan. The stone voussoirs of the arch have replaced brick ones during a recent restoration. Flanking the entrance are modern 12-pane flush sash windows, which have projecting stone cills and modern stone lintels similar to the original design. On the east face, there is a large contemporary 24-pane window on the ground floor and a 16-pane window above, along with additional 9-pane and 4-pane windows to the right. The rear features two gabled projections, both with coped kneelers and brick chimneys, with the right projection advanced and having a projecting end stack. A modern single-storey addition reflects the style of the original building.

Inside, the two front-facing ground-floor rooms have heavily beamed ceilings that are deeply chamfered and stopped. There is an early 19th-century plain stair with pine stick balusters and a mahogany swept rail, along with plain early 19th-century fireplaces.
