Description
College Farmhouse dates from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is a two-storey building constructed of rubble with a brick front. The lower portion is defined by an ashlar plinth, lintels, a first floor cill band, and brackets to the gutter. The three bays feature glazing bar sashes. A slight central break is visible, with red brick detailing while the side bays have blue headers, red brick quoins, and dressings. The roof is slate with stone coped verges and stone gable end chimneys. A plain central portico provides entrance, featuring an arched doorway with a moulded stone architrave and a radiating patterned fanlight above a six-panel door, the upper four panels raised and fielded, the lower two flush and reeded. A detached 18th-century wing adjoins the left side; it is rubble with later brick dressings to the windows and a 1/2-hipped stone tile roof. The central first-floor window on the south side of this wing has three lights with ovolo mullions – likely wooden – and a chamfered wooden lintel.
