Description
Dean's Farmhouse is a late 18th century building that has been recased from an earlier structure and features 19th century alterations. It is two storeys high, constructed of red brick on a stone plinth, with chamfered stone quoins. The roof is a low pitch hipped slate. The main front faces west and is wide with three bays, the centre bay slightly projecting. It has recessed sash windows with later 19th century glazing. The central door consists of six fielded panels and features a decorative female head knocker, an arched and radiating weathered fanlight, all set within a panelled surround under a Doric porch. This porch includes two pilasters and two columns at the front, with a broken entablature on the sides and a segmental pediment hood. There are two-storey canted brick bays from the 18th century on the north and south fronts. At the rear, there is an earlier wing made of flint and brick, with wooden casements. The north side has a six-panel door beneath a plain porch.
