Description

Avon Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with a late 19th-century extension. The front is built in Flemish bond brick, while the sides and rear are in English bond brick. It features a tiled hipped roof and brick stacks, forming an L-plan structure. The building is two stories high with a three-window front. The central entrance has a six-panelled door topped by a flat wooden hood supported by consoles and surrounded by moulded jambs. On either side of the door are two-light casements with segmental-arched heads. The first floor has three two-light casements, also with segmental-arched heads. A moulded wooden cornice runs along the eaves.

On the right side, there is one two-light casement on both floors. The left side features a greenhouse and 20th-century French windows on the ground floor, along with one single casement and one two-light casement on the first floor. The rear includes two doors and two two-light casements with segmental heads on the ground floor, and four two-light casements on the first floor, all with segmental heads. The late 19th-century two-storey wing at the right and rear has a panelled door with a flat wooden hood, a three-light casement on the ground floor, and two and three-light casements on the first floor. The right side of the wing has inserted 20th-century garage doors and two-light casements on the first floor. The rear of the wing features a 20th-century door and a glazed stair extension with three two-light casements on the first floor. The interior was refitted around 1800, showcasing moulded doorcases, a newel staircase, and a fireplace with a wheat-ear surround.
