Description

A pair of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, was built in the mid-18th century, with a later 20th-century extension to the rear. The cottages are constructed of unworked limestone with some brick, and have a thatched roof with gable-end stacks made of brick. The building is arranged in a T-shape. The front facade is two stories high and has three windows. An early 20th-century rustic porch, positioned to the left of the centre, is supported by fragments of Romanesque columns, likely salvaged from Old Sarum. Flanking the porch are two two-light casement windows. The first floor has a two-light, a four-light, and another two-light casement window. The left and right returns have no windows and are extended with single-story brick additions dating to the 20th century. The rear of the building features 20th-century metal casement windows on the ground floor, and a two-light and a single wooden casement window on the first floor. The 20th-century wing at the rear is also thatched and has metal casements. The interior of the cottages has not been inspected. Much of the stonework used in the building's construction was probably quarried from the ruins of Old Sarum.
