Description

Prebendal House, dated 1700, is located on Stratford Road. The original section, which is to the right of the road front, features a tall, two-storey façade made of red brick with moulded and coved eaves. It has a half-hipped old tile roof with a gable end at the rear. The side wall is constructed from brick and flint, with some stone, and includes an external chimney. The upper part at the rear is rendered, while the lower part showcases flint and stone with chequered brick dressings.

On the street front, the original section has a canted full-height bay and three sash windows on each floor, all in linked flush frames. The central window on each floor is round-headed, resembling a Venetian window, and features a keystone above, with intact glazing bars. To the left of the bay is a door with four fielded panels, sheltered by a flat hood supported by shaped brackets.

An early 19th-century extension to the south is a one-storey and attic structure made of red brick, with a gable end roof covered in old tiles and a gabled semi-dormer. The ground floor has two three-light casements. The north side elevation includes a Venetian window on the first floor. Inside, there is a rococo fireplace on the ground floor and a late 18th-century marble fireplace on the first floor, both located in rooms with bay windows.
