Description
Weston Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1659, as indicated by a plaque on the east front inscribed 'LRA 1659'. The building has been extensively altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and dressed stone, featuring a gabled stone tiled roof with three ridge stone stacks. The original house was two storeys high with two bays, and it was extended by an additional bay to the north. The principal entrance was originally located on the east front, where a 19th-century bay window has been added. All window openings are from the 19th century, featuring three and four-light mullions with dripstones and sashes. The south front has two gabled two-storey bays; the eastern bay is from the 17th century, while the western bay is from the 19th century and displays the cardinal's hat insignia of Christ Church College, Oxford, which owned the property. There are also two further 19th-century two-storey additions made of rubble stone and brick to the west. Inside, the southeast room retains 17th-century woodwork with fielded panels and panelling from the original screens passage.
