Description
This is a long, staggered terrace of 13 one-window, two-storey cottages built in the second half of the 19th century, following a broad curve as it descends the hill. With the exception of the end cottages and numbers 25 and 27, the cottages are arranged in pairs that mirror each other. Number 11 has an extra window on the ground floor, and shows evidence of earlier brickwork in the lower part of its chimney, suggesting it may have been built earlier, possibly in the second quarter or mid-19th century. The terrace is constructed of rendered brick with shared brick stacks and has slate roofs with tiled ridges. The stacks to numbers 13 and 15, and numbers 21 to 25 are rendered. The roof is continuous until number 15, and then steps down slightly in sections, typically of two cottages. The cottages have recessed doors, which are mostly of a late Victorian style with four panels, with those at numbers 33 and 35 being partly glazed. The doors to numbers 11, 17, 23, 27, 29, 31 and 37 are modern. Number 29 also has an additional entrance with a boarded door to the left. The windows are plain, recessed four-pane sashes with projecting stone sills. The terrace is part of a larger group of 14 buildings.
