Description
This is a long, staggered terrace of 13 two-storey cottages, built in the second half of the 19th century and descending the hill in a broad curve. Most cottages have a single window, but number 11 has an additional window on the ground floor and exhibits earlier brickwork in the lower part of its chimney, suggesting it may have originated in the second quarter or mid-19th century. With the exception of the end units and numbers 25 and 27, the cottages are arranged in pairs reflecting one another. The terrace is constructed of rendered brick with shared brick stacks and has slate roofs with tiled ridges. The stacks to numbers 13 and 15, and 21 to 25, are also rendered. The roof is continuous until number 15, stepping down slightly in sections of mostly two cottages as the terrace follows the slope of the hill. There are recessed doors in a late Victorian style, with four panels, and numbers 33 and 35 have glazed panels. The doors to numbers 11, 17, 23, 27, 29, 31 and 37 have been replaced with modern doors. Number 29 also features an additional entrance with a boarded door on the left side. The windows are plain, recessed sashes with four panes and projecting stone sills. This terrace is part of a larger group of 14 buildings.
