Description

Pentre farmhouse is a lobby-entry house that has been divided into three units, arranged east to west, with its front facing north and featuring a small walled forecourt. The kitchen is located to the east of the building. A two-storey porch serves as the main entrance, and a bakehouse has been added as a storeyed wing on the north side of the kitchen. The structure is built with local axe-dressed or rubble masonry, topped with slate roofs and tile ridges. There are three stone chimneys on the main range and one brick chimney at the end of the bakehouse. Most of the masonry, except for the chimneys, is painted white, and there is a stone-walled rear garden.

The front elevation is asymmetrical, with the gables of the bakehouse and entrance porch on the left and two bays of the main range on the right. The bakehouse gable is blank, while the porch gable features a door with an overlight to the right and two small windows. On the main range to the right, there are two small-paned horizontally sliding sash windows at the ground level, one of which is arched and the other has a large stone lintel. Above these, there are two small renewed windows. At the rear, the lower windows also have large stone lintels. Generally, doors and windows have been replaced in earlier openings.

The farmhouse follows a baffle entry plan type, with back-to-back hearths in the kitchen and the central unit, and the stairs located in the kitchen unit.
