Description
Bryn-yr-odyn is a two-storey farmhouse with a later block added to the rear, creating an L-shaped plan. It is constructed of mortared rubble masonry and features a slate roof with stone gable stacks that have dripstones and capping. The main elevation faces south towards the road and has an entrance door offset to the right (east) end, which is a basket-arched opening with radiating stones above. The windows are timber casements; the ground floor window on the left end has been enlarged and consists of three lights, while above it is a two-light window, with a similar window on the right end. Flanking the door are a small single-paned light on the left and a small window on the right, which is obscured by vegetation.
Although not inspected, it is recorded that the original layout in the main range is retained. This layout includes a hall with a gable end fireplace, and a chimney stair alongside, which was likely added when the adjacent wing was constructed in the 17th century. There are post-and-panel partitions on either side of the cross-passage, with paired doors leading to a heated parlour and a small service room beyond the passage. The kitchen is located in the rear wing.
