Description

Ty-Cerrig is a two-storey farmhouse built in an L-shaped plan, constructed from local rubble masonry and whitewashed. It features a slate roof with stone stacks that have dripstones and capping. The older part of the building is the northern wing, which was originally a hall house. The current openings reflect its conversion into a lofted agricultural wing. The entrance elevation faces north and includes a wide cart bay on the left (west) end, with a casement window located under the eaves above it. To the right (east) end, there are two doorways that flank an external flight of stone steps leading up to a loft doorway. The left (west) gable has a stack, while the return side features a doorway offset to the far left (south) and a single narrow loft window to the right.

The main range is located to the south, with its principal elevation facing west. This section consists of a three-window range with a central doorway, marked by a ridge stack, and is linked to the northern wing by a single window bay, with the windows offset to the left (south). A modern boarded door is set in a pegged frame, and the windows are timber casements. The ground floor has two windows with advanced rough stone lintels, and the first-floor windows are positioned directly under the eaves.

Inside the northern wing, there are two arch-braced cruck trusses with cusping above the high collars, and some wind braces remain on the purlins. A large fireplace with a stone bressumer is located at the west gable. The southern range has been extensively modernised, featuring a replaced timber bressumer in the inglenook at the south gable, while many original rough chamfered cross beams have been preserved.
