Description
Crown Carpets is a two-and-a-half storey building featuring a rendered exterior and a steeply-pitched tiled roof. It has a tall brick chimney on the left side, which has a moulded capping. The ground-floor shop section extends to the street line and is entirely modern. The main section of the building is recessed and has a symmetrical facade, with a wide central bay that culminates in an attic gable.
On the first floor, there is a large 8-light wooden mullioned and transomed window with small-pane glazing. The central six lights create a canted bay in the projecting section, while the outer lights return onto the facade on either side. Above this window, there is a heavy moulded plaster stringcourse. The gable features a 4-light mullioned window, also glazed with small panes, which has a moulded label and sill, along with a decorative plaster panel below. The apex of the gable is adorned with simple plaster moulding.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
