Description
Dolgynlas is a farmhouse located slightly away from its associated farm buildings, featuring a low rear wing that includes a bakehouse and shed, all enclosed by a walled yard.
The farmhouse itself is a two-storey, three-window structure facing south-east. It is constructed from local rubble masonry in very large blocks, giving it a nearly cyclopean appearance. The roof is slate with a tile ridge and slated verges, and there are stone chimneys at either end. The front has three modern rooflights, and the windows are arranged symmetrically but are slightly offset to the left due to a large hearth on the right. The windows are 19th-century timber casements, with the central window above the door consisting of two lights and the others having three lights. Each window features segmental arches made of brick above and stone below. A modern brick porch has been added to the front. At the rear, two upper windows from the original house remain visible, fitted with modern casements.
There is a later single-storey rear extension that also has a slate roof, along with a modern porch and windows. An outbuilding range, added later and built in small rubble masonry, is positioned at right angles to the main house. This outbuilding has a slate roof with a tile ridge and stone chimneys, featuring a boarded door leading to the bakehouse, a small window, and a segmental brick-arched opening for a cartshed. Attached to this wing at the rear is a small early 20th-century four-door range of calf stalls, constructed from similar materials.
The right-hand unit of the farmhouse served as the kitchen; while its hearth has been modernized, it still retains its original timber bressummer.
