Description

Jones Peckover Estate Agents is an elegant Georgian townhouse built in the 18th century, featuring three storeys. It is constructed of brown brick in Flemish bond, with projecting sandstone quoins that have been renewed at the left corner. The hipped slate roof is fitted with lead flashings and has tall brick end chimneys.

The facade is symmetrical with three bays, and the central entrance is accessed via a segmental stone step. The entrance includes a six-panel door, with the upper panels glazed, and a four-pane rectangular overlight above, all covered by a moulded cornice canopy supported by consoles. The ground and first floors showcase Venetian-type windows in the outer bays, featuring twelve-pane arched central sashes and narrow four-pane flanking sections, all unhorned, with the central sections displaying intersecting glazing bars at the heads. The first floor also has a twelve-pane sash window in the centre, topped with a segmental head. On the second floor, there is a central nine-pane sash window with a segmental head, flanked by six-pane arched windows with intersecting heads, similar to those below. There are modern additions, including a hanging sign on the first floor's left side and glazed estate agent's panels on either side of the entrance.

Inside, the entrance hall features a well staircase with turned balusters, a moulded rail, and scrolled tread-ends, along with a segmental arch to the understair on the left. The principal ground floor rooms are adorned with moulded cornices.
