Description
53 Vale Street is a compact, three-storey Georgian townhouse forming part of a terrace. It dates from the Georgian period and is constructed of brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The windows have cambered heads and projecting stone sills, and the roof is covered in slate with two brick chimneys, one of which has been reduced. The front facade is symmetrical, with three bays, and an additional bay to the far left providing access to a rear passage. The central entrance has a moulded wooden doorcase and lintel canopy supported by consoles; the doorway now has a Victorian six-panel door with a plain rectangular overlight, although it was formerly recorded as having a good fanlight. The windows originally had small-pane glazing but now have plain sashes. The passage on the left has an entrance with a cambered head and a modern iron half-gate. The interior of the building was not inspected at the time of survey.
