Description
25 Church Street is a two-storey building with a wide three-window front, featuring painted roughcast. The ground floor has a plinth and pilasters that are channelled, while the first floor is panelled. The roof is covered with old slate and has red brick chimney stacks at the right end and above the entry. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows with crown glass and architraves, while the ground floor has one 12-pane sash window and a modern small-pane casement at the extreme right. There is a four-panel door in a plain doorcase, and double doors to the left that once opened onto the carriage entry, which is a later alteration.
Inside, the building retains features from the 17th century, including a stone fireplace with a timber lintel. The main chimney is positioned end on to the entry, and another fireplace has been blocked up. There are remains of a simple timber dividing wall between the hall and parlour, as well as stop-chamfered joists. The staircase is modern but incorporates some old timbers, such as the moulded handrail. The former passage leading to the coach house and yard has been converted into the kitchen.
