Description
The gated driveway entrance to Llangollen Railway Station features a broad cast iron gate that spans most of the width of the drive. This gate is hinged to the right on an iron semi-gate-pier that is attached to a tall stone gate pier. On the left side, there is a small iron pedestrian gate with a similar iron semi-pier and an attached stone pier. Both gates close onto a square iron pier that has chamfered edges and a ball finial.
Stone walls border the drive on either side, ramping down to the left and continuing at Abbey Road level to the right. These walls are made of snecked masonry with freestone coping. The right-hand wall terminates at the gable end facing Abbey Road. The left-hand wall may be associated with alterations made in 1898 when the siding by the signal box was added, and it continues to join the bridge at its northwest corner.
