Description
The entrance gateways to Glenfield House, including the attached side gate to Rose Cottage, date from around 1875 and are constructed from red sandstone with iron gates. The central vehicle entrance features square-sectioned piers built on chamfered plinths, topped with moulded pyramidal caps that have small gablets. The plain iron gates do not have their original finials. Dwarf walls on each side connect to pedestrian gateways: the gateway to Glenfield House has an iron gate with Gothic Revival tracery beneath the top rail and finials, while the piers have chamfered caps. The gateway to Rose Cottage has been altered. These structures are part of a group associated with the iron-ore mine built to serve Stank No.2 pit and are included for their group value.
