Description

The Western Portal of the Penmaen Rhos Railway Tunnel is a Grade II listed structure made of white limestone. It features ashlar stonework over the arch, with rusticated detailing on the terminal piers and coursed and squared stone on the parapet. The portal has a shallow segmental arch topped with a stepped moulded cornice, situated between terminal turretted piers. These piers are rectangular in shape and have machicoated embattled heads.
