Description
This is a three-storey house with an attic, and a shop, dating from the 18th century. The front facade has been renewed with a roughcast finish, painted cream, set beneath a slate roof with roughcast stacks. A modern shop front features a plate-glass window set within a glazed tile stallboard, with diamond-pattern glazing above a transom. Similar diamond-pattern glazing is found above the recessed doors, which consist of a half-glazed shop door and a panelled house door. The first floor has paired four-pane sash windows with horns, each set on a common sill, and beneath a bracketed cornice. An earlier photograph indicates a tripartite window was present here at one time. The second floor has two four-pane horned sash windows within moulded architraves featuring keystones, set on a corbelled sill band that connects with the sills of the adjacent Nos 2 and 4. The central attic window has a similar architrave and paired four-pane sash windows, beneath a gable adorned with fretwork bargeboards and a finial.
The rear of the building has been altered, with new window openings, two roof dormers, and a ground-floor extension. The interior has not been inspected.
