Description

Highlands is a 20th-century building featuring roughcast render, a Llanberis slate roof, and brick axial stacks, with the principal stack having a stepped profile. The entrance front has a low roof supported by heavy brackets at either end, with the eaves line lower over the garage section on the left, which is accessed from the site and has narrow windows at the front. The doorway features a studded plank door. To the right, there is a 4-light casement window located just below the eaves. A low cat-slide dormer contains 3-3-2 casement windows. The west return elevation has a canted bay window, and the upper window has been replaced with uPVC glazing. The east return features ribbed garage doors beneath a short pentice roof that aligns with the eaves line of the front elevation, leading to a complex hipped roof over a former coal house, creating an outshut against the gable. The garden front also has a low roofline, interrupted by a tall central gable. In the ground floor of the gable, there is a 4-light casement window with a swept hoodmould, and a similar 3-light window above it. To the right, there is another 4-light casement window below the eaves, and a loggia in the left corner, which is now glazed in but was originally open.

The interior is compactly planned with a lateral entrance hall and staircase, a through room to the east, and a dining room at the rear of the hall. The kitchen is located at the back of the integral garage. Most of the original details remain intact, including a plain baluster staircase, lugged architraves on ribbed doors, and built-in cupboards against the eaves space upstairs.
