Description

Plaisted House is a two-storey building constructed of local rubblestone, featuring a replacement Welsh slate roof and three brick chimney stacks. The front has three windows, with the right-hand window bay being a late 20th-century addition. The windows are 6 over 6 pane sashes with cement architraves, and there is one ground floor 2-light casement window with moulded stone mullions and a dripmould; all window joinery has been replaced in the late 20th century. The entrance has a chamfered 4-centred stone door-frame, likely with an early 20th-century concrete porch. The roof has a fairly low pitch, indicating it has been replaced, and features a gable stack, with the left-hand stack being a later addition and a large hall stack located laterally on the back wall.

The rear elevation includes a small gable, an extension to the left, and a late 20th-century aluminium conservatory. All windows at the rear are now late 20th-century plastic double glazed units. There is a large exposed chimney breast with a tall square rubble stack supported on corbels, topped with rebuilt brick.

Inside, the interior is relatively plain, with only a fragmentary spiral stone staircase remaining. The most notable feature is the hall fireplace, which has a moulded flat arch stone surround. The current staircase has been inserted into what was originally the cross-passage.
