Description
The barn at Great House Farm is a Grade II listed building constructed from local white limestone and topped with a steel sheeting roof. The wall facing the road features a central elliptical arch leading to the threshing floor, which has a plank door. The arch appears to have been rebuilt in the 19th century to allow for a wider door. To the left of the arch is a slit vent, while to the right is a taking-in door that provides access to the hayloft. The gables of the barn also have slit vents, and the walling is otherwise plain. The verges of the roof suggest that it was originally thatched. On the rear wall, there is a central blocked door with a smaller head compared to the door on the road side, and a slit vent is located to the right.
The interior was not seen during the resurvey, but it has been described by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales as having four bays. The type of roof is not known, but it is likely to be a queen strut roof.
