Description
Ridge Cottage is a Grade II listed building featuring a rendered exterior over brick and a slate gambrel roof with end wall stacks. The cottage is two storeys tall, but the upper storey is mostly contained within the roof. It showcases Neo-Georgian style in its detailing. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with small-paned sidelights and an overlight, flanked by tripartite small-paned sash windows. A verandah with an ogee leaded roof, supported by slender square-section columns that are likely cast-iron, spans the front of the cottage. The upper windows are all dormers; the small central 6-pane sash window has a swept architrave with a pedimented head and a shallow panelled apron below the eaves. The outer windows are groups of three small 6-paned sashes with a moulded cornice above their flat roofs. All upper windows feature delicate wrought ironwork rails that resemble scaled-down balconettes.
