Description
The agricultural range at Cefn Castell is an L-shaped structure built of whitened rubble with old slate roofs. It features a main barn section and an additional cart-house block that is positioned at right angles to the barn. The barn section has its gable facing the approach to the farm, showcasing a tall boarded loading bay with a glazed, three-pane upper section, and flanking ventilation slits arranged in two tiers. The long return of the L shape includes a boarded stable door set in a pegged frame on the left, with an exposed timber lintel above. To the right, there is a vertical window with paired vents in two tiers, along with a 20th-century lean-to extension on the left rear gable end.
The cart-house section is attached to the front gable on the right side and stands two storeys high. It features two large segmentally-arched cart bays with rough-dressed voussoirs. Above these bays, there is a boarded window on the left and a boarded loading bay on the right. The southwest gable has a cambered upper entrance in the centre, which includes a boarded door and voussoirs similar to those on the cart bays. A straight stone-parapetted flight of steps leads up to this entrance, flanked by rubble-walled pig sties that are accessible from the front.
The interior was not inspected during the survey.
