Description
Cefn Castell is a double-pile farmhouse that features a primary storeyed end chimney range at the rear and a late Regency range at the front. The building is constructed of rubble with slate roofs; the primary section is whitened while the front range is rendered. The older part has a large projecting end chimney on its northeast gable, which includes a gabled breast and a tall stack, along with squat rendered end chimneys on the front pile.
The main front of the house faces the garden and displays a symmetrical three-bay late Regency facade. There is a central entrance accessed by two segmental stone steps, featuring a round arch and an original six-panel door, where the upper four panels are raised and the lower two are blind. Above the door is a simple four-part segmental fanlight. The front also includes elegant 12-pane 19th-century sash windows with cambered heads.
On the rear, the primary pile has two Tudor-arched 19th-century Gothic windows on its northeast gable, one on each floor to the right of the chimney breast. These windows have recessed small-pane iron glazing with depressed ogee intersecting heads. There is an outshut to the rear on the right, which includes a 20th-century corrugated iron lean-to porch extending into the left angle, featuring a boarded inner door and 20th-century windows. The interior was not inspected at the time of the survey.
