Description
Ddol is a double-pile, storeyed farmhouse constructed from local limestone rubble, topped with a slated roof, which includes small slates on part of the rear (south) pile. The building features plain end chimneys on both piles, along with an additional off-centre chimney on the rear pile and plain cornices.
The slightly lower front (north) pile has an off-centre cambered entrance that includes a boarded door and a 3-pane overlight. Above the entrance is a recessed limestone lintel that bears the date 1598 and the initials EI and AP. To the right of the entrance is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window with a cambered head, and there is a modern single-storey log/bin addition that adjoins at right angles. To the left of the entrance is a second similar entrance, flanked by sash windows; the window to the left has 16 panes, while the one to the right has 12 panes. The first floor features three 16-pane, square-headed windows, all of which have projecting stone cills, with the cambered windows showcasing rough-dressed voussoirs.
The three-bay south front has a central entrance similar to the north front, flanked by 19th-century tripartite windows. These windows consist of a central 12-pane section with narrow 4-pane outer sections, and they are also cambered. The first floor includes three 16-pane sashes. The paired west gables are roughcast.
Inside, there is a late 19th-century pine stick-baluster staircase leading to the rear pile, and slate-flagged floors throughout, while the interiors are otherwise plain.
