Description

Dolwen Bridge is a single-span road bridge made of rubble. It features a segmental arch with recessed, rough-dressed voussoirs. The low parapets are made of sandstone and are slightly raised in the center, creating a gentle hump in the carriageway. The parapets are splayed at the approaches and end on the upstream side with simple square piers. Some sections of the capping have been replaced with cement. The western downstream parapet extends along the river for a short distance as a sloped revettment wall, which is located beyond a flat buttress that marks the end of the bridge. This wall then connects to a rubble boundary wall.
